Following last year's acquisition of Oasis, Protocom, and Rio's R&D team for portable HDD Mp3 players, SigmaTel has consolidated its position in Consumer Electronics with technical developments and patents in MFP (Multi-functional Printing), video codecs, and audio technologies. SigmaTel will begin promotion of the STMP3600 Series IC in 2006. This solution cuts power consumption by over 50%, reduces PCB space by 20%, and provides easy integration with additional components and features such as wireless functionality.
