Toshiba to Start Mass Production of Next Generation NAND Flash Memory
- To supply the world's smallest 64-gigabit NAND memory chipon second generation 19 nanometer (nm) process technology -21 May, 2013 TOKYO—Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced that the company has developed second generation 19 nanometer process technology that it will apply to mass production of 2-bit-per-cell 64 gigabit NAND memory chips later this month. Toshiba has used the new generation technology to develop the world's smallest* 2-bit –per-cell 64 gigabit NAND memory chips, with an area of only 94 square millimeters. Using a unique high speed writing method, the next generation chips can achieve a write speed of up to 25 megabytes a second - the world's fastest class* in 2-bit-per-cell chips. Toshiba is also developing 3-bit-per-cell chips by using this process technology and aims to start mass production in the second quarter of this fiscal year. The company will initially introduce 3-bit, multi-level-cell products for smartphones and tablets by developing a controller compatible with eMMC, and will subsequently extend application to notebook PCs by developing a controller compliant with solid state drives (SSD). GMI Announces 1st Quarter Financial Results – Net Profit Up 61%
GMI Technology Inc. (Public, TPE: 3312) today announced financial results for the 1st quarter of fiscal year 2013. For the three month period ending March 31, 2013 net revenue was US $ 109.4 million, an increase of 6% versus both the prior quarter and the same quarter in 2012. After-tax net profit for the period was US$ 1.1 million, versus an after-tax net loss of US$ 282 thousand in the same quarter in 2012 and in increase of 61% over the prior quarter. Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Lewis Lo, president of GMI, said, “We are very pleased with our continued consistent revenue growth in what is traditionally a slow quarter, and our net profit results were well above our expectations. GMI Announces 4th Quarter And Full Year 2012 Financial Results

The signing ceremony was hosted by Mr. Arthur Y.C. Chiao, Chairman of Winbond and Mr. James Chen, President of Chinatrust Commercial Bank at Sherwood Hotel Taipei. The main purpose of the syndication loan is to finance the term loan repayments and the working capital needs. The loan was oversubscribed and final facility amount was closed at NT$ 5 billion. The oversubscription represents banks’ recognition of Winbond’s credit standing and positive business prospects. GMI Technology Announces Quarterly Financials – Net Revenue Increases 21%
GMI Technology Inc. (Public, TPE: 3312) has announced financial results for the 3rd quarter of their fiscal year 2012. For the three month period ending September 30, 2012 net revenue was a record US$ 113.4 million, an increase of 21% versus the same period in 2011. After-tax net profit for the three month period was US$ 444K, a decrease of 6.5% versus the prior quarter in 2012. For the nine month period ending September 30, 2012 net revenue was a record $US 325M an increase of 9% versus the same period in 2011.
