GMI Technology Provides Total Solutions for SigmaTel Portable Consumer Electronics

Following last year's acquisition of Oasis, Protocom, and Rio's R&D team for portable HDD Mp3 players, SigmaTel has consolidated its position in Consumer Electronics with technical developments and patents in MFP (Multi-functional Printing), video codecs, and audio technologies. SigmaTel will begin promotion of the STMP3600 Series IC in 2006. This solution cuts power consumption by over 50%, reduces PCB space by 20%, and provides easy integration with additional components and features such as wireless functionality. GMI Technology Projects Over 50% Volume Growth for Realtek LCD Controllers in 2006
GMI Technology (Public, TPE: 3312) is expecting a year-on-year growth of over 50% for sales volumes of Realtek LCD controllers. Realtek Semiconductor (Public, TPE: 2379) is a key product supplier for GMI Technology The two firms have collaborated on projects that cover Realtek's full line of communication network ICs, including Network Interfaces, Switches, Gateways, Broadband Access Controllers, and wireless networking ICs. Additionally, both firms have worked together to develop solutions for the full series of PC peripherals and multimedia application ICs for applications such as Audio Codecs, Card Reader Controllers, Clock Generators and LCD Controllers. One important GMI Technology offering is that of Realtek's LCD Controller for 15"/17"/19" display panels. In addition to helping fulfill parts demand for Realtek products, GMI Technology also provides firmware Design-in services for downstream customers. In 2005, Taiwan-based customers utilizing these services represented a large proportion of GMI Technology is sales revenue for Realtek.
